Who can drive and ride
You need to be 19 or older with photo ID to rent. Passengers can be 10 and up. Two adults per Sea-Doo; three only if it’s two medium-sized adults and a small child.
Your licence for the day
Transport Canada requires everyone driving a motorized boat to have proof of competency. For a rental, the Rental Boat Safety Checklist counts: Corey goes through it with every driver, you sign it, and you keep it on board. Transport Canada’s minimum age to drive a personal watercraft is 16; Corey’s minimum age to rent is 19.
On the water
- 10 km/h within 30 metres of shore.
- No towing: no tubes, skis or boards.
- Stay clear of swimmers, docks and the bridge piers.
- Life jackets on, the whole time.
Money
A $1,500 damage deposit per Sea-Doo; you’re responsible for damage during your rental, and insurance doesn’t cover dents, scratches or misuse.
Fuel: included only on the 1 and 1½ hour “fuel included” rentals; otherwise Corey refuels after and bills your card at the marina price per litre.
Cancelling: 14 days or more before, full refund; 14 days to 48 hours, half; within 48 hours or a no-show, no refund.
Weather
Corey checks the lake before every rental. If it isn’t safe, he reschedules or refunds you. Light rain or cloud doesn’t count. Wind on Okanagan Lake usually builds in the afternoon, so mornings are often calmer.
What to bring
Photo ID, the card you booked with, sunscreen, water, a strap for your sunglasses. Water shoes help at rocky launches.
